How Ocean works

Last updated 22 October 2026.

Ocean is an AI concierge. She is software. She is not a person. This page sets out what she can do, what she cannot, who checks what she arranges, and what happens to what you tell her.

What she is

Ocean runs on Google’s Gemini models, working to instructions written by the house: how to speak, what to leave out, and what she may and may not do.

What she can do

  • Find offers, destinations and places in the catalogue, and suggest one that fits.
  • Draft a trip from what you tell her, for you to review.
  • Read your trips and tell you what is next.
  • Propose changes: a different table, a car, a chef for an evening.
  • File a request for the house when something needs looking into, and come back to you with the answer.
  • Look up a fact, such as an opening hour, with a Google Search.
  • In the apps, talk by voice, and make changes to a confirmed trip once you have said yes.

What she cannot do

  • On the website, she cannot pay for anything. Payment happens on the trip page, and you confirm it there.
  • She cannot commit you to anything you have not confirmed. In the apps, the one exception is an auto-charge limit you set yourself (see “Who checks what she arranges”, below).
  • She cannot see your travel documents or your card details.
  • She cannot give legal, medical, financial or visa advice. Check what matters with an official source.
  • She cannot promise availability. A room or a table is held only when the trip page says so.
  • She can be wrong. She is instructed never to say something is booked when it is not, but the trip page is the record. If it is not there, it is not booked.

Who checks what she arranges

Nothing Ocean proposes becomes a commitment until you confirm it on screen. On the website, she offers a card; you read it and confirm, and only then is anything sent.

Where a commitment involves a house, the house confirms it. Some houses confirm within a day, and the trip page shows the answer.

A request for a person (a chef, a driver, a guide) is matched to a provider by someone at Notturno.

Requests Ocean files for the house (“I’ll find out and come back to you”) are researched by an automated system, and the answer comes back through her. Treat it as a starting point. Nothing it suggests is booked until you confirm it.

In the apps, if you set an auto-charge limit, she can add an extra at or below that amount without asking each time. Anything above it, she asks first. You can change or remove the limit in your profile.

What she is told about you

To be useful, Ocean is given your first name, your home base, a short summary of your travel preferences, the trip you are discussing, and the conversation so far. On the website she can also read your other trips, when you ask about them.

What is sent, and where

What you write, and in the apps what you say, goes to Google to be processed together with the context above. Google runs these models on its global network, so where that happens is not fixed, and it may be outside the UK and the European Union, including the United States:

Google processes this under its cloud data processing terms. It does not use what you send to train its models. When Ocean looks up a fact, her question also goes to Google Search. In voice mode, your voice is streamed to Google while the microphone is on; Notturno does not keep recordings.

What is not sent

Your travel documents. Your card details. Your photo. Your email address and phone number. Your full postal address.

Training

Google does not use your conversations with Ocean to train its models. Notturno does not build models from them either. When the house improves Ocean, it does so by changing her instructions, not by learning from what you said.

How long it is kept

On notturno.studio, we keep your conversations with Ocean with your account, so they are there when you come back: what you write, her replies, the changes she offers you, and a short summary she keeps so she remembers the thread. They are kept until you close your account, and then all of it is deleted. None of it is archived.

In the apps, the conversation stays on your phone until you clear it or close the app. We do not keep it on our servers.

What Ocean acts on is kept with your account: changes to your trips, requests she files for the house, and the notes she sends you. Changes to your trips go with the trips themselves, as the privacy notice describes. The requests and notes are not removed automatically when you close your account; write to contact@notturno.studio and we will delete them. Google may hold a request for a short time to run and protect its service.

Your choices

We ask your permission before your first conversation with Ocean. You can say no. You can still read the edit, plan with the form on the planner, confirm trips and write to the house at contact@notturno.studio.

On the website you can withdraw it at any time under Profile, Preferences. In the apps, write to us and we will withdraw it for you. Withdrawing stops new conversations; it does not change your trips or bookings.

Words drafted with Ocean

Trip plans, the notes on each day and some descriptions in your trip are drafted with the same models, to rules the house sets. On notturno.studio, the trip page marks them “Drafted with Ocean”. Read them as a plan, not as a guide: check opening hours, dress codes and anything that matters to you.

Decisions about you

Ocean does not make decisions about you that have legal or similarly significant effects. Your standing is calculated automatically from your confirmed trips and what you have spent, as the privacy notice explains.

Questions and complaints

Write to contact@notturno.studio. If Ocean said something wrong or acted in a way you did not expect, tell us what she said and when. On the website we can look at the conversation, if you ask us to; in the apps, a screenshot helps. Our complaints page sets out what happens next.
