Four days in New York’s galleries and halls: Gagosian on Madison Avenue, the Met’s Egyptian wing in the first hour after opening, MoMA’s fifth floor, and a recital at Carnegie Hall to close.

The days

Ocean sets the hours around your dates. In November there is light from about quarter to seven, and it is dark by five.

Wednesday

  1. Midday: The Mark, on East 77th.
  2. Afternoon: A late lunch at Le Bernardin.

Thursday

  1. Morning: The Met in its first hour, the Egyptian wing before the rooms fill.
  2. Afternoon: Gagosian, on Madison Avenue.

Friday

  1. Morning: MoMA’s fifth floor.
  2. Evening: Supper at Joe Allen, on the theatre row.
  3. Evening: A recital at Carnegie Hall.

Saturday

  1. Midday: A long lunch, then home.

  • Met on arrival at JFK. A car to the hotel.

  • Gagosian, a private viewing. Madison Avenue, the current show, with a curator.
